The Accelerated Learning Cycle
The aspects of successful learning
At County, we believe that it is important to empower teachers and give them autonomy to teach in their own style. There is no ‘one size fits all’ way to teach. However, we strongly believe that there is a best way to learn. As such, all of the learning that takes place in our lessons is based on following the stages of the ‘Accelerated Learning Cycle’ (see image below). Key to its success is gaining students’ attention at the beginning of lessons and optimising cognitive load. Literacy is also crucial in the planning and delivery of great learning. As stated above, everything that we do at County is evidence-informed but it is also suitable to our context. The expectation is that staff plan with student outcomes in mind and work through the stages of the Accelerated Learning Cycle in every lesson, every day. This is all with the explicit aim of improving student outcomes.
